Lyle L. Probst

CEO, Director and Founder

Lyle Probst has 20 years of executive management and product development experience at PositiveID and MicroFluidic Systems, SAIC, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), including a series of bio-detection programs, such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology BAND program, development and deployment of BioWatch Generation 1, as a subject matter expert within the Biodefense Knowledge Center at LLNL, and as principal investigator/developer of the high-throughput Bio-Watch mobile laboratory at SAIC Corp. Probst was previously the Director of Capillary Electrophoresis and Director of Chemistries at the Joint Genome Institute.

Kimothy Smith

Chief Science Officer and Director

Dr. Kimothy Smith served as Senior Advisor for International Biodefense at U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Health Affairs, and as Acting Director of the National Biosurveillance Integration Center, where he set the strategy of a government-wide effort to acquire, aggregate, analyze, interpret and disseminate biosurveillance information from public and private sectors for epidemiological analyses and health protection. He also worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, serving as the Deputy Division Leader for Operations in the Counter-terrorism and Incident Response Division of the Non-proliferation, Arms Control and International Security Directorate. 

William J. Caragol

Chairman and Founder

William J. Caragol became Chairman and CEO of PositiveID in 2011, and has served as its president since its inception. He has also served in other executive management roles at PositiveID. Previously, Caragol was the vice president of business development and chief financial officer of Millivision Technologies, a technology company focused on security applications. Prior to his role at Millivision Technologies, Caragol was a consulting partner with East Wind Partners LLP, a technology and telecommunications consulting company, in Washington, D.C, and spent eight years at Deloitte and Touche. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and graduated from the Washington & Lee University with a bachelor's degree in Administration and Accounting.

David L. Politis

Chief Marketing & Sales Officer

During his 30-plus-year career, David L. Politis has worked with a wide range of companies of varying sizes in both the technology and life science industries, most of which have been pre- or post-IPO firms, including serving as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for two venture-backed startups. His specialty has been helping such companies to define and deploy their go-to-market strategies and programs, with an emphasis on driving market acceptance, sales growth, and increased shareholder valuations. In total, Politis' efforts have produced more than $1.1 billion in increased valuation for his clients and employers through Public Offerings, IPOs, increased share prices, mergers, acquisitions, and venture capital, strategic, and private fundings, while also generating over $750 million in identified sales opportunities.
